When and where do you meet?

Troop 1885 meets weekly on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Meetings are typically held at Presbyterian Church of the Master, 10710 Corby Cir., Omaha, Nebraska.

How much does it cost?

Annual dues for 2023 will be $230 with Scout Life magazine or $215 without Scout Life.  Monthly camp outs will typically cost roughly $20 each to cover the cost of the campsite and food.  The 2023 cost for summer camp at Camp Cedars will be $355 if paid by May 4.

What is Scouts BSA?

When the Boy Scouts of America made the decision to welcome girls into the program, the national organization chose to rename the program for 11-17 year olds "Scouts BSA".  Participating youth are known as "Scouts."

Isn't Boy Scouts co-ed now?

No.  At the Scouts BSA level, youth will join either a male troop or a female troop.  Some organizations sponsoring troops may offer both through a linked troop option, and the male troop and female troop can share resources and engage in some joint activities.  Troop 1885 does not presently have a linked male troop.

How are the BSA programs different from what girls would experience with Girl Scouts?

BSA programs provide character- and leadership-building experiences that give young people a solid foundation for their futures. The BSA celebrates all youth-serving organizations that build character and feel the most important thing is to allow parents and girls the ability to choose what program is best for their family.

I am already a teenager.  Can I still join?

Yes!  Part of the benefit of the Scouts BSA program is that youth of different ages learn from each other--both leadership and other skills.

I am already a teenager.  Do I have time to become an Eagle Scout?

Achieving ranks is just one part of the Scouts BSA journey, and friendships, fun, skills development, and learning to lead are important parts of the experience.  If becoming an Eagle Scout is one of your goals, troop leadership is willing to support your efforts and help develop a plan to reach that goal.  Generally, a Scout must complete all requirements for Eagle Scout by her eighteenth birthday.  Most earlier ranks include time-based requirements, and those add up to a minimum of 19 months.  Merit badges must also be completed.
